2012 Emmy Award Nominations

These are the nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards and who I'm going to choose for each. I got the list from
http://www.ontheredcarpet.com/Emmy-Awards-2012:-Full-list-of-nominees/8741178 so if you want to print it out or vote or eat it I say go for it!

Outstanding Drama Series
"Boardwalk Empire - "HBO"
"Breaking Bad" - AMC
"Downton Abbey" - PBS
"Game Of Thrones" - HBO
"Homeland" - Showtime

Comment: I am absolutely in love with Downton Abbey. Game of Thrones is spectacular as well but I really think Downton Abbey is going to take it if Mad Men does not.

Outstanding Comedy Series
"The Big Bang Theory" - CBS
"Curb Your Enthusiasm" - HBO
"Girls" - HBO
"Modern Family" - ABC (2011, 2010 winner)
"30 Rock" - NBC
"Veep" - HBO

Comment: I honestly don't watch any of the following shows but I have seen a couple of episodes of 30 Rock and I thought it was hilarious. Tina Faye's writing is also spectacular. Especially this;

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series
Jim Parsons - "The Big Bang Theory" - CBS (2011, 2010 winner)
Larry David - "Curb Your Enthusiasm" - HBO
Don Cheadle - "House Of Lies" - Showtime
Louis C.K. - "Louie - FX Networks
Alec Baldwin - "30 Rock" - NBC
Jon Cryer - "Two And A Half Men" - CBS

Comment: Has Cryer ever been nominated before? Either way that's why I'm voting for him.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series
Lena Dunham - "Girls" - HBO
Melissa McCarthy - "Mike & Molly" - CBS (2011 winner)
Zooey Deschanel - "New Girl" - FOX
Edie Falco - "Nurse Jackie" - Showtime
Amy Poehler - "Parks and Recreation" - NBC
Tina Fey - "30 Rock - NBC
Julia Louis-Dreyfus - "Veep" - HBO

Comment: Parks&Recreation is a hilarious show. I also have a new found respect for Poehler's idea to bring everyone on stage last year. Although the rest of the females nominated are also great.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series
Mayim Bialik - "The Big Bang Theory" - CBS
Kathryn Joosten - "Desperate Housewives" - ABC (The actress died in June at age 72. She has won two Emmys for her role as Karen McCluskey.)
Julie Bowen - "Modern Family" - ABC (2011 winner)
Sofia Vergara - "Modern Family" - ABC (highest-paid TV actress)
Merritt Wever - "Nurse Jackie" - Showtime
Kristen Wiig - "Saturday Night Live" - NBC

Comments: If Sofia Vergara wins I'm going to throw a water bottle at my tv screen.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series
Ed O'Neill - "Modern Family" - ABC
Jesse Tyler Ferguson - "Modern Family" - ABC
Ty Burrell - "Modern Family" - ABC (2011 winner)
Eric Stonestreet - "Modern Family" - ABC
Max Greenfield - "New Girl" - FOX
Bill Hader - "Saturday Night Live" - NBC

Comment: I don't really care who wins...

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series
Steve Buscemi - "Boardwalk Empire" - HBO
Bryan Cranston - "Breaking Bad" - AMC
Michael C. Hall - "Dexter" - Showtime
Hugh Bonneville - "Downton Abbey" - PBS
Damian Lewis - "Homeland" - Showtime
Jon Hamm - "Mad Men" - AMC

Comment: DEXTER!!!! That is all.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series
Glenn Close - "Damages" - DirecTV
Michelle Dockery - "Downton Abbey" - PBS
Julianna Margulies - "The Good Wife" - CBS (2011 winner)
Kathy Bates - "Harry's Law" - NBC
Claire Danes - "Homeland" - Showtime
Elisabeth Moss - "Mad Men" - AMC

Comment: Michelle deserves every single award she has been given and/or nominated for. If she doesn't win this thing is rigged and I will never watch it again (until next year.)

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series
Anna Gunn - "Breaking Bad" - AMC
Maggie Smith - "Downton Abbey" - PBS
Joanne Froggatt - "Downton Abbey" - PBS
Archie Panjabi - "The Good Wife" - CBS
Christine Baranski - "The Good Wife" - CBS
Christina Hendricks - "Mad Men" - AMC

Comment: Yeah yeah I couldn't decide. I am extremely happy about both nominations. Dame Maggie Smith always brings an excellent performance in everything she does.  Froggatt has been my favorite character since the beginning (after Daisy) and gives an electrifying performance whereas Smith probably has the best lines in the show. I am in such a frenzy as to which one to choose. I'm leaning more towards Froggatt considering I don't think Smith ever shows up to the award ceremonies.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series
Aaron Paul - "Breaking Bad" - AMC
Giancarlo Esposito - "Breaking Bad" - AMC
Brendan Coyle - "Downton Abbey" - PBS
Jim Carter - "Downton Abbey" - PBS
Peter Dinklage - "Game Of Thrones" - HBO (2011 winner)
Jared Harris - "Mad Men" - AMC

Comment: Carter should have gotten more screen time but when he was on screen he was the best sir in the series.

Maya Rudolph - "Saturday Night Live" - NBC
Melissa McCarthy - "Saturday Night Live" - NBC
Elizabeth Banks - "30 Rock" - NBC
Margaret Cho - "30 Rock" - NBC
Kathy Bates - "Two And A Half Men" - CBS

Comment: It was a toss up between Cho,McCarthy, Bates, and Bank. But I thought Bank completely rocked on 30 Rock.

Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series
Martha Plimpton - "The Good Wife" - CBS
Loretta Devine - "Grey's Anatomy" - ABC
Jean Smart - "Harry's Law" - NBC
Julia Ormond - "Mad Men" - AMC
Joan Cusack - "Shameless" - Showtime

Ryan Seacrest - "American Idol" - FOX
Betty White - "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" - NBC

  1. I was happy to read that NBC's "30 Rock" won for “Outstanding Comedy Series” because that show is hilarious and full of comedy. “The Big Bang Theory” had to have come in 2nd place because that would be my next choice. I'm so happy that I took my coworker at Dish's suggestion to get the Hopper or else I would have never been able to watch either of these shows. My Hopper has a PrimeTime Anytime feature that automatically records all of my prime time shows that come on CBS, NBC, FOX and ABC everyday!

  2. I'm so happy to hear that! 30 Rock is amazing. I never really got into the Big Bang Theory but I'm sure if I sat down and watched a few episodes I would like it. I've never heard of a Hopper until you just told me about it, it sounds really cool. I basically just have regular television, no TiVo or any of that although I know a lot of people swear by them. =)
